【1-Day Event: Dec. 3rd】Okayama Mottainai Festa

Recommended for people interested in local products and in helping the environment.

“Mottainai” in Japanese means that something is going to waste. In order to combat waste, the concept of this festival is to offer high quality, locally produced items that might normally be thrown away in the manufacturing process for a reasonable price. Products for sale include not only food and beverages, but also brand clothing, bags, shoes, and other fashion items; wood and lumber, candles, and other lifestyle items. Food and drink products include ramen from a popular ramen shop, craft beer, Japanese sweets, pressed sushi, and olive oil. There will be 24 vendors at this event.

The first event of this kind was held in February 2023, and this will be the second event. Please come and enjoy yourself at this small but wonderful market event!

Date & Time: December 3rd, 2023 / 10:00~17:00

Location: Kurashiki Ivy Square Red Brick Hall

Fee: Free-of-charge (bring money for purchases)

Other info: Please bring your own eco-shopping bag(s) and reusable chopsticks

I'm from the U.S.A., but I've lived longer in Okayama. I'm a sake sommelier, certified by the Sake Sommelier Association in London. I love traveling in Japan, beautifully presented food and desserts, great art, taking photos, hiking and walking, visiting gardens, and spending time with family and friends.
