Dress up as Aristocrat from 9th-Century Japan [Miyajima]

Dress up as Aristocrat from 9th-Century Japan [Miyajima]

The Heian period (794-1185) was a glamorous era centered around Kyoto, which was the capital then. It was an aristocratic society, and a diverse culture flourished among people of noble birth, encompassing not only attire but also waka poetry, incense matching, and hanging scrolls.

Taira no Kiyomori was the medieval leader of the Heike clan, which held dominance over Japan in the latter half of the 12th century. Kiyomori was responsible for the construction of Itsukushima Shrine on the sacred island of Miyajima, and for the beautiful and unique design you can still see today. There is a deep connection between the culture of the Heian period and Miyajima.

Come to Miyajima, a setting of Heian-era picture scrolls, and dress up in the costumes of Heian aristocrats for a commemorative photo! Once you dress in a beautiful costume, you will feel like a member of Heian nobility. Experience an unforgettable Heian cosplay at the World Heritage Site of Miyajima.
Men’s costumes (one size fits all) and children’s costumes are also available.

Anne

Konnichiwa! My name is Anne.
I live in a port town called Kure City, 40 minutes by car from Hiroshima City.
We have many beautiful islands. There is an abundance of seafood and fruits.
The place is surrounded by sea and mountains. You can experience walking on narrow streets, hiking on mountains and even climbing stairs.
Strolling around the town is also enjoyable.
You will surely find your own Seto Inland Sea trip here!
