Discover Seto Inland Sea Gastronomy at “Locavore”: A Restaurant on Etajima Island
Have you heard about this restaurant on an island in the Seto Inland Sea?
It’s called Locavore, and it is inside Etajimasou.
The restaurant is designed with the Seto Inland Sea’s surface in mind, and its walls are made of traditional paper. It offers a spacious dining area with full-length windows overlooking the Seto Inland Sea.
In this sun-filled space, even the time spent contemplating what you will I eat feels blissful.
The cuisine here prominently features produce from Hiroshima and Etajima, the island on which the restaurant is located.
The most popular meal is the “Bounty of the Island-Etajima Bento” priced at ¥2,500. It features Etajima’s specialty fried oysters, oyster sauce, and simmered fish freshly caught around Etajima.
The pasta of the day” costs ¥1,800.
During our visit in February, it was a pasta loaded with Hiroshima’s whitebait and locally grown vegetables from Etajima.
There’s also the “Etajima Farm Lunch” priced at ¥2,200, features a variety of locally grown vegetables and two types of dressings: a rich sesame dressing and an oyster dressing also sourced from Etajima.
Additionally, there are options for children’s lunches, the “Chef’s Special of the Day” at ¥1,500, and a “Dessert Set” for ¥700.
Each dish uses fresh ingredients from both Hiroshima and Etajima, including oysters, mussels, whitebait, olives, citrus fruits, vegetables, fruits, and even wild boar meat. This variety reflecting the bounty of the Seto Inland Sea, and varies by the season.
Time to plan another visit in spring.
I can’t wait to see what kind of dishes will be available then.
After a relaxing time at the Etajima Onsen, indulging in a local lunch at Locabore would make your day perfect.
Locabore, the restaurant on Etajima, is located on the first floor of Etajimasou.
Whether you staying at the hotel or not, you can still enjoy a meal at Locabore.
