Special Opening of Oyamazumi Shrine with a talk show with sword researcher
In Omishima, located almost in the center of Shimanami Kaido, there is a very famous shrine called Oyamazumi Shrine, which has been the main shrine of Japan since ancient times. It has Japan’s oldest surviving armor used in the Battle of Dannoura(1185), which is a national treasure. The collection includes swords and armor donated by the imperial family and successive generations of famous generals from the Kamakura period to the Warring States period, and 80% of the armor that has been designated as national treasures or important cultural properties of Japan.
In this tour, all the treasures of Oyamazumi Shrine will be specially released. In addition to that, (1) a special commentary by the chief priest, (2) a talk show with sword researcher Paul Martin talking about “sword culture” with the chief priest, and (3) you will be able to appreciate those treasures with a guide.
From Hiroshima Port and Mihara Port, charter the luxury sightseeing high-speed cruiser “SEA SPICA” and travel to Omishima via Rabbit Island Okunoshima.
Lunch using local ingredients and dinner of seafood BBQ are included.
