[Enjoy the Sunrise on New Year’s Day from Mt. Noro (Kure)]
Mt. Noro, the highest mountain in Kure, rises 839 meters above sea level and offers breathtaking views of the islands of the Seto Inland Sea in all seasons.
You can enjoy the first sunrise of the year from many sites: the Starry Observation Deck, Kabutoiwa Observation Deck, Headmaki Observation Deck, and more.

My family and I visit Koboji Temple (a Buddhist temple) every New Year’s Day.
Koboji Temple is a sacred mountain where the renowned Buddhist monk, Kukai (Kobo Daishi), is said to have climbed twice (at ages 19 and 49) and devoted himself to training in a rock cave more than 1,000 years ago.
This temple’s view of the Seto Inland Sea is also stunning, making it an ideal destination for a New Year’s visit.
Noro Kogen Lodge is also planning a first-sunrise event, where you can witness the sunrise from Mt. Noro and buy souvenirs. The famous Mt. Noro boar soup, Mt. Noro burger, and the lodge’s renowned freshly baked bread are among the savory dishes being offered.

I also recommend visiting during the cherry blossom season to see 1,500 cherry trees bloom one after another on Mt. Noro at an altitude of 840 meters. In June, you can also enjoy hydrangeas.

Kure Bay Ship Tour
Set sail on a cruise and get an up-close view of mighty ships (about 30 minutes)! The evening cruise that departs at sunset is also highly recommended. *(You may want to use an extension to translate pages in Japanese.)
Konnichiwa! My name is Anne.
I live in a port town called Kure City, 40 minutes by car from Hiroshima City.
We have many beautiful islands. There is an abundance of seafood and fruits.
The place is surrounded by sea and mountains. You can experience walking on narrow streets, hiking on mountains and even climbing stairs.
Strolling around the town is also enjoyable.
You will surely find your own Seto Inland Sea trip here!
